On 19 August 2025, lecturers from the Department of Applied Physics and Materials Science organised a large-scale event for the participants of the “Smerichka” sports and recreation camp of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University. The event was aimed at raising awareness among senior secondary school pupils about the opportunities offered by modern technologies, with a particular emphasis on the crucial role of engineering and technical specialists in the development and reconstruction of our country.
Special attention was given to issues related to nuclear energy, in particular its importance for Ukraine’s energy security. This part of the event, led by the Head of the Department of Applied Physics and Materials Science, Volodymyr Kotsiubynskyi, and Professor Volodymyra Boichuk, was held within the framework of the project 101127143 — RISE-UP — ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH under the Jean Monnet Module. One of the main objectives of this module is to promote the EU’s policy on the appropriateness of using “green” nuclear energy in the current geopolitical context.
